Storing Your Christmas Ham

ham bag

We all love ham at Christmas and want it to last so we can enjoy the experience for as long as possible! However, it’s important your ham is stored correctly to ensure it stays fresh and can be enjoyed for plenty of meals.

If you’ve got one of our fabulous hams on order, you should know that they will keep vac-packed in the fridge for up to 3 weeks if they are unopened.

Once opened, discard the wrapper and keep your ham in a ham bag in the fridge to avoid drying out. And here’s a great tip: rinse your ham bag in cold water and a teaspoon of vinegar prior to storing your ham. Thoroughly rinse the ham bag and repeat the cold water and vinegar rinse every couple of days and your ham will keep for 5-6 days in the fridge once the vacuum seal has been opened.

Remember with the summer heat once you have carved your ham, pop it back in the fridge in its ham bag.

There are endless ideas for ham glazes. Have a look at our blog article on gorgeous ham glazes and how to remove the skin from ham for some delicious ideas.

Mmmm, ham – delicious served warm with fresh summer vegetables, ideal cold with your favourite salad and perfect for those summer picnics on the beach or at the park – with ham and tomato sandwiches, ham quiche and other tasty delights.
