Now that we’ve got our very own house-made burger patties, you can elevate your burger game with our easy recipe for making your own soft, fluffy, and flavourful burger buns at home. Perfect for those special burgers crafted with premium Meat Direct patties and toppings!
Ingredients:
- 500g bread flour
- 7g (1 sachet) instant yeast
- 50g caster sugar
- 60ml warm milk
- 200ml warm water
- 50g unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions:
- Mix ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the bread flour, yeast, sugar, and salt. In a separate bowl, mix the warm milk, water, and melted butter. - Combine and knead
Pour the wet ingredients into the dry and mix until a dough forms. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. - First prove
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth or plastic wrap, and leave in a warm spot for about 1 hour or until doubled in size. - Shape the buns
Punch down the dough and divide it into 6-8 equal portions. Shape each into a round bun and place on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Flatten slightly with your hand. - Second prove
Cover the shaped buns and let them rise again for about 30-40 minutes until puffy. - Preheat oven & prepare for baking
Preheat your oven to 180°C (fan bake). Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the buns for a shiny finish. Sprinkle with sesame seeds if desired. - Bake
Bake the buns for 15-18 minutes until golden brown. Remove from the oven and cool slightly before slicing.
